October 27, 2010 Lucie Kerley Beautiful meal with @jonmcgovern at the brand new Chutney Ivy Indian Restaurant, in the Cultural Quarter 41 Halford St, Leicester LE1 1TR 0116 251 1889. A beautiful restaurant with stylish bar downstairs that can be hired for private parties. Fingers crossed their mojitos will be as good as their food! They only opened their doors last night but the owner Shaf & members of staff (I didn’t mean to rhyme…) who served us were delightful! Whilst they get their A la carte menu ready; to entice customers they kindly put on a sampling buffet at a very reasonable £6.99 each. Which included delicious lamb shish kebab, potato & aubergine in a light tempura batter and poppadoms with a selection of dips. This was followed by an array of curries, pilau rice, vegetables and fresh naan from the built-in tandoori oven. Overall a very friendly, warm & welcoming experience. The standard of food was very good, comparable to places like Mem Saab, all freshly prepared and cooked to perfection in the open kitchen area. The food was served with a smile, always a memorable dining experience and one that I can and will highly recommend to friends and family. #mostlyeating #indian #restaurant #Leicester #buffet #cuisine #alacarte #recommended #romantic #diningout
