Lucie Loves… #LEKxJMGwedding // Behind-the-scenes at You & Your Wedding magazine’s #WeLoveRealBrides cover shoot

Back in January I got an email from Hollie Bond, Features Writer at You & Your Wedding magazine inviting me to take part in a wedding dress shoot that they were organising. 

What Sex and the City fan wouldn’t be excited at an offer like this! It was my Carrie-Bradshaw-in-Vogue moment. I said yes and the next week found myself at the Immediate Media offices in Hammersmith.

The shoot consisted of rifling through rails of wedding dresses with Editor at Large Peta Hunt, and having my hair and makeup done by their beauty team.

I knew that I didn’t want to go for anything that was even vaguely similar to my actual wedding dress, so it took me a while to make a decision. Initially I opted for a very pretty Claire Pettibone number which looked like this, but my eyes kept drawing back to the floral Luisa BeccariaSS15 dress winking at me from the rail. After shooting me wearing the first dress, Peta eventually gave in and let me try on the dreamy, flower-covered, embroidered gown.

I was in heaven!!

I knew that I could have never afforded anything like it in my wildest dreams. It was a real treat playing dress-up in this stunning boho gown. The detail and embellishments are phenomenal. It’s like the floral dresses that Valentino and Erdem are famous for but much more psychedelic.

You & Your Wedding magazine photographed seven real brides in total, including me. It was then up to you guys at home to vote for your favourite cover girl. Read about how each of us got engaged.

Thank you to everyone who voted for me. Your support was incredible. It’s less than 6 weeks until our May 2015 wedding now and we’re getting very excited!
