Lucie Loves... Lifestyle // Celebrating @CanadaDayLondon with a Taste of Canada @ThistleHotels, Marble Arch and @KatchLondon

This year, 1st July from 10:30am-10:30pm, will see the 8th Canada Day London FREE SUMMER FESTIVAL held in Trafalgar Square.

Earlier this week I headed over to the Thistle Hotel at Marble Arch to enjoy a deliciously hearty Canadian breakfast courtesy of the Canada Day London team.

The breakfast dishes on display looked amazing! I didn’t know where to start. I opted for the pancakes topped with bacon and a drizzle of Buckwud maple syrup, eggs benedict and fruit salad along with a nice cup of hot coffee.

I love living in London but now that I’m here I’d quite like to book a flight to Canada for a little adventure. It sounds brilliant!

When it comes to breakfast/brunch there is just so much choice when it comes to picking a place to eat, for me, good eggs are a MUST.

FOOD: TASTE OF CANADA

It was great to meet the Canada Day London team and to hear how the city of London is transformed into one big Canadian celebration. They also have plan’s for New York and Hong Kong!! They had over 90,000 people taking part last year in Canada Day London last year and This year will have food stalls from the likes of Chunky Chips and Wicked Dips, The Fine Chicken Company and Meat Cure - Burger Shed. Sounds yummy!

“With over 85,000 Canadian born people living in the city, Taste of London aims to bring traditional flavours to homesick expats whilst introducing Londoners to the very best of Canadian cuisine.”

If you fancy having a real Taste of Canada on Monday 1st July, Trafalgar Square are also putting on a pre-ticketed 3 course meal, which costs £40,  at Trafalgar Square - North Terrace Trafalgar Square, London, SW1Y 5AY. Tickets can be bought here from Design My Night.

FITNESS: YOGA! YOGA! YOGA!

Canada Day London will see the spirit of Vancouver and it’s love of yoga, and downward-dogging, arrive in the heart of London. You’re invited to bring along a mat and take part in a fabulous Lululemon yoga session from 3:45pm-4:45pm, led by one of their amazing yoga ambassadors, Mercedes Ngoh.

If you haven’t tried yoga before then take a trip down there, join in the fun or just watch and soak up the calming atmosphere.

ART: LOVE, WRITE and DELIVER…

The other quirky and creative event worth checking out at Canada Day London is the Love Lettering Project. It’s a community arts engagement project bringing love letters to strangers by artist Lindsay Zier-Vogel. Lindsay gets people to write love letters to the cities they live in, slip them into airmail envelopes marked “love,” then distribute them anonymously to be discovered later by strangers.

I wish more weekdays began with a Canada Day breakfast…

Always one to try new food, you can check out how I got on with traditional Canadian dish Poutine, it’ll be on the blog soon…

Watch this space.
