Lucie Loves.... Fashion // Celebrating British designers at London Fashion Weekend

It’s been just five months since London Fashion Weekend took over the Saatchi Gallery in September. On Friday 26 February I visited for the second time to see what talks, catwalk shows and designer shopping they had in store for fellow fashion lovers like me.

Last year I attended LFWEnd with a few of my friends (read the original blog postandfull outfit details.) We went a bit crazy and picked up a few pretty dresses from Little White Lies, who are also stocked in the likes of ASOS and Urban Outfitters.

This year, I took another friend of mine, Kelle Roos – a big fan of upcoming designers and mens fashion – to check out London Fashion Weekend.

We explored each of the rooms of designer brands, on a hunt for some stylish menswear, and looked through the huge selection of vintage fur pieces and the many jewellery collections on display.

It was upstairs that I spotted a familiar name! Ros Millar

I was delighted to finally meet Ros, an award-winning young jeweller from Northern Ireland whose work I am a BIG fan of. She also happens to be one of the very talented brands stocked by Young British Designers. Thanks to Debra Hepburn, the YBD crew are one big, happy, sartorially-savvy family! I love you guys!

It was one of them funny moments. You know when you’ve been following someone on social media (in this case Twitter and Instagram) for so long that when you meet… in real life… you kind of feel like you already know them! Funny that.

Watch this space for more photos from Ros’ studio. I’m planning on dropping in and taking a few pics of her at work. I can’t wait!

When you visit LFWEnd and start rifling through the pieces on the rails, if you find something you really love, you can often strike up a deal with the seller and get some really good discounts off the high-end designer brands on display.

It was great to see MARINA LONDONexhibiting at London Fashion Weekend again. Last year I fell in love with this cute silk slip of a dress from her AW15 collection, worn here with my Dear Frances leather ankle boots.

If you’re not a buyer, press or a LFW approved blogger, chances are that you won’t have had an opportunity to see any of the catwalk shows that punctuate fashion crowd calendars. But, if you’re curious – and want to see what it’s like to sit on the FROW (front row) – London Fashion Weekend is a good way of immersing yourself into it, gently. Without the craziness that is dashing between back-to-back shows and jostling shoulders with the fashion elite.

This Business of Fashion article shows the weariness that can come about from season after season of such (rather intimidating) jostling…

LFWEnd, is a chance to wear your most stylish outfit, and (if you’re lucky) have your photo taken by street style loving photographers, pick up a bargain and meet new designers in the space of an afternoon.

Last year I didn’t get to see any of the catwalk shows at LFWEnd, so I took great pleasure in watching Mary Katrantzou’s goddess-like army of highly-embellished jewel-toned wearing models, strut their stuff to showcase highlights from her SS16 collection.

Other designer catwalk shows over the weekend included: Emilia Wickstead, Temperley London and Holly Fulton.

After the show you can walk around the rest of the event, carry on shopping, grab a coffee or just do a bit of people watching – perfect for absorbing even more style inspiration.

I don’t think the photographer could believe his luck when Kelle walked in. I lost count of the amount of people that asked him if he was a model. He isn’t… yet. But I’m pretty sure that will change soon. Move over David Gandy…
